I’ve been developing a pedagogy for critical consciousness for people of color in the US for nearly 35 years. My current work focuses on introducing young working class and people of color to the social movement, the development of conscious and competent community leaders, and advancing the theory and practice of grassroots critical pedagogy.

I was inspired and mentored by Paulo Freire and developed my "chops" alongside longtime US popular educators such as Raul Anorve ( IDEPSCA, Los Angeles), and Klaudia Rivera (El Barrio Popular Education/Long Island University, NYC).

I'm honored to be an advisor, mentor, trainner, and ally to The Center for Young Women's Development (San Francisco), Youth United for Community Action (East Palo Alto)DEBUG (San Jose), Engaging Education(UC Santa Cruz), Represent 2 Witness-Critical Faith (Bay Area),IDEPSCA (Los Angeles) and NAKEM YOUTH in Honolulu. All of these folks are co-creators of grassroots critical pedagogy.
